Danish-German lyric mezzo-soprano Laura Hilden is marking the beginning of an exciting phase in her career. In the season 26/27 she makes a series of role debuts in Carmen (Mercédès), The Magic Flute (Second Lady) as well as in Kaija Saariaho’s Innocence (Student no 2, Lilly) at Theater Bremen. At the Bayerische Staatsoper she covers the main role of Orpheo in Gluck’s Orpheus und Eurydike and the season also sees her return to Staatstheater Nürnberg as a guest artist.

After training in Copenhagen with mezzo-soprano Marianne Rørholm, Laura studied with Daniela Sindram at University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in the bachelor's programme, where she is currently under the tutelage of KS Christiane Iven. In the seasons 2024-26 she was a member of the International Opera Studio at Staatstheater Nürnberg parallel to her master studies and debuted in new productions of The Magic Flute (Third Lady), Macbeth (Dama di Lady), La Traviata (Annina) and in the roles of Garderobiere/Gymnasiast/Groom/Kunstgewerblerin in Jens-Daniel Herzog’s staging of Alban Berg’s Lulu. She has also been proving her artistic range and versatility in guest appearances at Staatstheater Augsburg (Angel’s Bone, Du Yun), Bayerische Staatsoper (Devils of Loudun, K. Penderecki) & Vereinigte Bühnen Bozen (The Merry Widow, F. Lehár).

In concert she takes on the solo parts of her Fach in Rossini Stabat Mater & Petite Messe Solenelle, Berlioz Les nuits d’été, Chausson Poème de l’amour et de la mer, Mozart Requiem, Bach Johannespassion, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Mahler Das Lied von der Erde, Bruckner Messe no. 3, Saint-Saëns Christmas oratorio & De Falla El amor brujo.

Laura is deeply committed to the Lied genre and is 1st prize winner of the Rued-Langgaard-Competition 2022 in Copenhagen leading her to various performances throughout Denmark and Germany, including the Rued-Langgaard Festival and HICSUM-Festival. She has performed with German lied pianist Gerold Huber as well as Danish accordionist Bjarke Mogensen and presents her song repertoire in the frame of a classic Liederabend with a personal, dramaturgical twist.

In Germany she has been refining her work within the Lied-genre under the guidance of internationally celebrated Lied interpreters Werner Güra, Dorothea Röschmann, Ian Bostridge and Tobias Truniger. Currently she is being mentored by Lied pianist Marcelo Amaral and studies in the Lied class of Christian Gerhaher in Munich. Furthermore she has received major artistic and vocal impulses from Ulrike Sonntag as well as Hedwig Fassbender and René Massis at Exzellenz Labor Oper 2024.​

In 2025 she was a finalist of the Nordic singing competition Havets Röst held in Finland and participated in the 12th Moniuszko Competition in Warsaw, Poland 2025.

Laura Hilden is a 2026 scholarship holder of the Danish Else Brems’ Travel Foundation as well as a 2023 scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Society Munich for emerging vocal talent and has throughout her studies received grants from several Danish and German foundations; Wilhelm Hansen Fonden, Augustinus Fonden, Louis-Hansen Fonden, William Demant Fonden, den Bøhmske Fond, Feldthusens Fond, Beckett-Fonden, Lizzi og Mogens Staal Fonden, Holger Larsens Enkes Mindefond, STIBET & Frederik og Emma Kraghs Mindelegat.
